Rahoof is a Graduate Research Assistant at the Center for Media Engagement at The University of Texas at Austin. He is also a doctoral student in the School of Journalism and Media. His research interests lie in the intersections of journalism and democracy with a focus on the Global South. Currently, he is working for the Solidarity Journalism Project run by Dr. Anita Varma. An award-winning journalist with years of newsroom experience in various countries in Asia, he served as a fact-checker for Agence France Presse (AFP), contributing to a large-scale online verification project commissioned by Meta. Before that, he held the position of Editor-in-Chief at Earth.Org in Hong Kong during its first year of operation. He also served as a news reporter for several national dailies in India.
