Neeley Pate

Neeley Pate is a Ph.D. student in Computer Science at The University of Rochester and an affiliate fellow at the Center for Media Engagement (CME) at The University of Texas at Austin (UT). While pursuing her B.S. in electrical and computer engineering at UT, she worked with the CME to study how modern propaganda tactics are changing with the use of social media, and how encrypted messaging apps can be used to spread misinformation online. Her current research focuses on misinformation on social media platforms and the impact of demographic cues on belief rigidity.
