Josh Wei-Jie Xiao (MA, National Taiwan Normal University) is a doctoral student in the School of Journalism at The University of Texas at Austin. His research interests center on disinformation and blockchain-based solutions. He is particularly interested in the emerging use cases of blockchain in the news industry (e.g., trusted database, crypto business models, and token-based governance). He examines how news startups negotiate future visions of desired blockchain scenarios and how participants socially verify sources on the blockchain.
