Dex Parra is a senior pursuing a bachelor’s in journalism and a Bachelor of Arts in government with a minor in media studies. He is interested in the relationship between the public and the media in the digital age. As a Media Ethics Initiative research scholar, Dex plans to study the communication of official policy both through political messengers and via new forms of journalism, including social media and artificial intelligence. He is also interested in the myriad ethical issues related to “culture wars,” freedom of expression, and democratic backsliding in a post-truth era.
